Furuba in top 30

Uh-oh! I was lazy a few posts back and just picked up Love Manga’s recap of the USA Today top 150. So he and I both missed the big news of the week: Volume 14 of Fruits Basket debuted at number 29. Fortunately, ANN picked up on it. That’s a personal best for this book, and it seems like the general trend is that the series is doing better as it progresses. It’s time to start speculating about what will happen if a volume hits the top ten, or even the number one spot.

    wow, that’s a first!

What, missing something on the Booklist? Not the first time for me.

Or did you mean Furuba? I think it was inevitable after the last volume made number 36. That’s why I wanted to be the first one to mention the possibility of number 1!

  3. David Taylor says:

A bit of both… Guess I must be slacking off today!! ^.^

You are a lot more optimisitc then myself that it was inevitable. 36 was pretty amazing for volume 13 and it doesn’t have say the power backing that Naruto is currently experiencing with Cartoon Network.

As for the top 10? I really do believe that its a real possibility, but it will have to be a pretty amazing title that gets there.

My heart says Fruits Basket. My brain says Naruto.

  5. David Taylor says:

Well law of averages would say Naruto.

Though in both cases it is only the last 2 volumes that have placed well into the Top 50, so I think it’s going to take a while before take the next leap upto the Top 10.

Plus Naruto has been the consistantly better title in the USA Todays chart. Though secretly I’d love it, if it was another title that suddenly appeared and stormed into the charts. Now that would be interesting.

Well I have been a faithful furuba follower for quite some time now, so I do believe that it WILL hit top ten. Maybe not now but very soon. Seeing as how I have read up to volume TWENTY!!! after knowing what I know there is no doubt in my mind that furuba will not only hit the top ten, I go farther as to say that it will at least hit the top five. This series didn’t get this far for nothing; it is a damn good series. If you haven’t read it, well you sure are missing out on the best shoujo out there.
(by the way this is coming from a male!)
